Spa-Francorchamps is one of those circuits where conditions can change within minutes. Rain, fog, sudden temperature drops and a wet racing line are all part of the circuit’s reputation. But during McLaren Trophy Europe on Friday 26 June 2026, the story was completely different.

It was hot. Extremely hot.

With temperatures reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius, the heat was everywhere: in the asphalt, around the garages, inside the paddock, in the tents and around the cars. Inside the race cars, temperatures can climb to around 60 degrees Celsius. At that point, performance is no longer something you only read about in a specification sheet. It becomes physical.

Cars need to keep performing. Tires need to stay within the right operating window. Brakes need to handle repeated stress. Drivers need to stay focused. Mechanics need to work quickly and accurately in very demanding conditions. Every detail starts to matter more.

That is exactly what makes a day like this interesting for BaanVelgen.

A proper motorsport wheel needs to handle high temperatures, heavy braking loads, aggressive tire forces and constant wheel changes. It also needs to provide enough clearance for large brake systems, while keeping strength and weight under control.

That thinking translates directly to road-car applications.

Not every road car needs to look like a race car, but every serious performance build benefits from the same engineering mindset. The right wheel setup is never random.
