Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring on BC Forged ACL09 Wheels in British Racing Green

NOVITEC Ferrari 12Cilindri Performance Parts | The Complete Guide Reading Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring on BC Forged ACL09 Wheels in British Racing Green 14 minutes

The Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring is defined by restraint. It delivers the performance, chassis engineering and naturally aspirated character of the GT3 without the fixed rear wing of the regular model. Any wheel fitted to the Touring should follow the same philosophy: technically correct, carefully considered and distinctive without overpowering the car.

For this British Racing Green Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring, we supplied a set of BC Forged ACL09 centerlock wheels. The wheels were produced in the original Porsche wheel dimensions and offsets, preserving the factory fitment and tyre configuration.

After production, the wheels were custom painted by BaanVelgen in British Racing Green, matched to the exact body color of the car. Instead of contrasting with the exterior, the ACL09 wheels become part of the complete Porsche specification.

The result is a highly individual GT3 Touring that retains its original proportions. The wheels are custom made, but the finished car does not look unnecessarily modified.

BC Forged ACL09 in original Porsche GT3 Touring specifications

For this project, the objective was not to create a wider or more aggressive aftermarket fitment. The BC Forged ACL09 wheels were ordered in the original Porsche 992.2 GT3 wheel specifications.

Position Wheel size Offset Factory tyre size
Front 9.5 × 20 ET46 255/35 ZR20
Rear 12.0 × 21 ET45 315/30 ZR21

Retaining the OEM dimensions allows the original front-to-rear diameter difference, tyre sizing and overall wheel position to remain intact. The new wheels follow the proportions developed for the GT3 platform instead of changing the car solely to create a more aggressive stance.

This approach is particularly appropriate for the Touring. The car is already carefully balanced visually and technically. A correctly specified replacement wheel should enhance that balance rather than introduce unnecessary width, excessive concavity or an altered tyre profile.

What does OEM-spec fitment mean?

OEM-spec does not mean that the BC Forged ACL09 is a replica of the original Porsche wheel. The ACL09 has its own design, forged construction and visual identity.

In this project, OEM-spec means that the important fitment measurements follow the original Porsche configuration:

  • The original 20-inch front and 21-inch rear diameters
  • The original 9.5-inch front and 12-inch rear widths
  • The original ET46 front and ET45 rear offsets
  • Compatibility with the Porsche centerlock system
  • Compatibility with the original tyre dimensions
  • Vehicle-specific brake and suspension clearance

The ACL09 therefore changes the wheel design and finish while preserving the factory wheel geometry. For owners who are satisfied with the original stance and driving balance, this can be preferable to moving towards a wider or more aggressive aftermarket setup.

The BC Forged ACL09 centerlock wheel

The ACL09 belongs to the BC Forged ACL centerlock series. These designs are created specifically for vehicles equipped with an OEM or production centerlock system.

Unlike a conventional wheel that is later adapted to accept a centerlock-style cap, the ACL09 is designed around the actual centerlock hub interface. This makes it suitable for Porsche GT models and other performance cars that use a factory single-nut wheel mounting system.

The ACL09 uses a one-piece forged monoblock construction. Each wheel is machined from forged aluminum and produced according to the required diameter, width, offset, centerlock application and brake clearance.

Because every set is manufactured to order, the final specification can be based on the exact vehicle rather than a generic wheel application. This is important on a car such as the 992.2 GT3 Touring, where brake clearance, wheel position and centerlock compatibility must all be confirmed before production.

Custom British Racing Green wheels

The defining feature of this project is the finish. Rather than selecting a standard black, silver, grey, bronze or brushed BC Forged color, the ACL09 wheels were custom painted to match the British Racing Green bodywork.

This was not a close alternative selected from an existing wheel finish chart. The wheels were finished by BaanVelgen using the body color of the Porsche as the reference.

Matching wheels to the exterior color creates a very different effect from using a contrasting finish. Black wheels visually separate themselves from the body. Silver and brushed finishes highlight the wheel design, while bronze or gold introduce an additional color to the specification.

British Racing Green wheels allow the body and wheels to read as one complete design. The spokes remain visible through their shape, reflections and shadow lines, but the finish does not interrupt the exterior color scheme.

Why body-color wheels work on the GT3 Touring

Body-color wheels can easily become too dominant when they are used on an elaborate wheel design or combined with an already complex vehicle specification. On the 992.2 GT3 Touring, the approach works because the rest of the car remains visually restrained.

The Touring Package removes the large fixed rear wing and gives the GT3 a cleaner silhouette. Matching the wheels to the British Racing Green body continues this understated design direction.

From a distance, the car appears cohesive and almost factory-built. At closer range, the ACL09 design, centerlock mounting and custom wheel finish become more apparent.

This creates the type of modification we often aim for at BaanVelgen: a substantial change that does not immediately look like an aftermarket addition.

British Racing Green compared with standard BC Forged finishes

BC Forged offers a wide selection of standard and special finishes. The correct choice depends on whether the wheels should contrast with the car, complement it or become part of the exterior color scheme.

Finish direction Visual effect
Gloss or satin black Creates a strong, technical contrast and visually reduces the wheel design
Brushed clear or silver Highlights the forged material, machining and spoke structure
Bronze or gold Adds warmth and creates a clear contrast with green bodywork
Crystal or translucent green Shows the brushed metal beneath a transparent green layer
Body-color British Racing Green Integrates the wheels with the car and creates a bespoke, cohesive specification

A standard green or crystal-green wheel finish would not create the same result. Those finishes have their own tone, surface effect and level of transparency. This project required an opaque automotive paint finish matched directly to the Porsche body color.

Why retain the original 20- and 21-inch wheel sizes?

The 992.2 GT3 Touring uses a staggered wheel-diameter setup, with a 20-inch front wheel and a 21-inch rear wheel. Keeping this arrangement preserves the original relationship between the front and rear tyre sidewalls.

The smaller front diameter leaves space for the required tyre profile and supports precise front-axle response. The larger rear wheel works with the wider 315-section rear tyre and the proportions of the 992 body.

An alternative 21- and 22-inch setup can create greater visual presence, but it also changes tyre choice, sidewall height and the overall appearance of the car. That was not the objective here.

For this Touring, the custom finish was intended to provide the visual transformation. The dimensions remained intentionally faithful to Porsche's original specification.

Centerlock fitment and brake clearance

A Porsche centerlock application requires more than the correct wheel diameter. The complete center section must be designed for the vehicle's hub interface, while the spoke profile and inner barrel must provide sufficient clearance around the braking system.

Before a custom BC Forged set enters production, BaanVelgen verifies the relevant vehicle information, including:

  • Exact Porsche model and generation
  • Front and rear wheel dimensions
  • Required offsets
  • Centerlock hub application
  • Brake configuration and caliper clearance
  • Factory or alternative tyre sizes
  • Suspension configuration
  • Desired stance and intended vehicle use

This specification process is one of the main advantages of a made-to-order forged wheel. The wheel is machined for the application instead of requiring the car to adapt to an existing stock fitment.

Forged monoblock construction

The BC Forged ACL09 is manufactured as a one-piece forged monoblock wheel. Starting with forged aluminum allows the design to be CNC-machined while retaining a strong and rigid wheel structure.

A monoblock wheel does not use separate centers, inner barrels, outer lips or exposed assembly hardware. This gives the ACL09 a clean construction that suits the modern shape of the 992.2 GT3 Touring.

Forged construction also allows material to be used more selectively than with many conventional cast-wheel production methods. However, final wheel weight depends on the diameter, width, offset, centerlock structure, spoke design and required load rating.

For this reason, we do not make a generic weight comparison with the original Porsche wheels. The important point is that the ACL09 provides a purpose-built forged alternative in the required GT3 Touring specification.

A custom finish outside the standard BC Forged palette

BC Forged already offers considerable freedom in color and surface treatment. Most projects can be completed using an existing gloss, satin, matte, brushed or crystal finish.

Occasionally, however, a project requires a color that cannot be selected from a standard finish chart. In those cases, BaanVelgen can assess whether the wheels can be supplied for an additional custom finishing process.

For this GT3 Touring, the production was therefore divided into two distinct stages:

  1. BC Forged manufactured the ACL09 wheels in the required Porsche centerlock specification.
  2. BaanVelgen custom painted the wheels to match the British Racing Green bodywork.

This distinction is important. The wheel model and technical specification come from BC Forged, while the exact body-color finish was created specifically for this BaanVelgen project.
