BAAN AIRMATIC Lowering Links for Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé C167 are a model-specific mechanical lowering solution for the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé C167 equipped with factory AIRMATIC air suspension.

BAAN Lowering Links provide the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé C167 with a direct mechanical route to a lower static position. They are particularly suitable when the intention is to support the C167 roofline with a lower body position and a more cohesive wheel-to-arch relationship.

Fitment first: Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé C167

This product is intended for the following application when equipped with factory AIRMATIC air suspension:

  • GLE Coupé C167

Suspension specifications can vary by market, model year and optional equipment. Send BaanVelgen the VIN when confirmation is required before ordering.

For the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé C167, the most convincing result is usually not the lowest possible setting but a measured position that preserves clearance and suspension travel. The adjustable construction supports that approach.

What changes and what remains factory

BAAN Lowering Links do not directly compress the air springs. They alter the geometry seen by the factory ride-height sensors. The control system responds by maintaining the vehicle around the new reference position, with no added electronics in the signal path.

Ride-height adjustment

The BAAN set allows the GLE Coupé C167 to be set from a near-standard position to roughly 50 mm lower at each axle. Front and rear can be tuned separately where required.

Measure from the wheel centre to the arch before and after every adjustment. Counting turns alone is not sufficient because the relationship between link length and body height differs by suspension geometry.

BAAN engineering details

The centre adjusters are machined from aluminium and use opposing thread directions. Stainless-steel link ends and ball-joint sockets provide corrosion resistance in the exposed suspension environment. Once the correct length is set, separate locking nuts secure both sides of the adjuster.

Each socket is retained by metal safety clips. Critical dimensions are inspected using measuring equipment capable of 0.001 mm resolution. The product is developed by BaanVelgen in Rotterdam and manufactured in Taiwan to BaanVelgen specifications.

Main product advantages

  • Complete lowering-link kit matched to the vehicle’s factory sensor layout.
  • Left-hand/right-hand thread design for adjustment without repeatedly releasing the factory sensor arms.
  • Machined aluminium centre bodies with stainless-steel connection components.
  • Dual safety clips and separate lock nuts at both ends of the adjuster.
  • Reversible installation with the original vehicle electronics left untouched.

Included with the vehicle set

The package contains the vehicle-specific adjustable links, all fitted stainless-steel socket ends, lock nuts, retaining clips and the relevant starting guidance. The listed price is for the complete vehicle set, not a single link.

Workshop guidance

The links are a direct sensor-link replacement and generally require around 60–90 minutes to install. Record the wheel-centre-to-arch measurements, begin from the supplied baseline and make only small symmetrical adjustments.

Do not use the sensor arms as levers when releasing the original sockets. After fitting, confirm that the links move freely through the normal suspension range and do not touch adjacent components.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a fixed lowering kit?

No. The final height can be fine-tuned through the threaded centre adjusters.

Can the car still self-level?

The factory self-levelling system remains in use. The links simply establish a lower mechanical reference position.

Will lowering change the ride?

A modest change generally retains the character of the factory system, but a larger drop reduces available suspension travel and may make the vehicle feel firmer.

Can a workshop install the kit?

Yes. The kit can be installed by a qualified workshop using normal hand tools and the supplied baseline guidance.

Is fitment reversible?

Yes. No permanent change to the suspension electronics is required, and the original links can be refitted.
