BAAN AIRMATIC Lowering Links for Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé C217 are a model-specific mechanical lowering solution for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé C217 equipped with factory AIRMATIC air suspension.

Wheel fitment on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé C217 looks most coherent when the body sits at the correct visual height. This mechanical BAAN solution allows you to accentuate the low roof and wide body with a precisely adjustable, non-electronic lowering method.

Developed around the S-Class Coupé C217 platform

Because the adjustment remains mechanical, the installation does not introduce an additional control unit into the vehicle wiring. This is especially useful on a luxury coupé where owners want the visual result without changing the original suspension architecture.

Vehicle-specific benefits

  • Complete lowering-link kit matched to the vehicle’s factory sensor layout.
  • Left-hand/right-hand thread design for adjustment without repeatedly releasing the factory sensor arms.
  • Machined aluminium centre bodies with stainless-steel connection components.
  • Dual safety clips and separate lock nuts at both ends of the adjuster.
  • Reversible installation with the original vehicle electronics left untouched.

How the lowering reference is created

BAAN Lowering Links do not directly compress the air springs. They alter the geometry seen by the factory ride-height sensors. The control system responds by maintaining the vehicle around the new reference position, with no added electronics in the signal path.

Front-to-rear height selection

The BAAN set allows the S-Class Coupé C217 to be set from a near-standard position to roughly 50 mm lower at each axle. Front and rear can be tuned separately where required.

Measure from the wheel centre to the arch before and after every adjustment. Counting turns alone is not sufficient because the relationship between link length and body height differs by suspension geometry.

Component specification

The centre adjusters are machined from aluminium and use opposing thread directions. Stainless-steel link ends and ball-joint sockets provide corrosion resistance in the exposed suspension environment. Once the correct length is set, separate locking nuts secure both sides of the adjuster.

Each socket is retained by metal safety clips. Critical dimensions are inspected using measuring equipment capable of 0.001 mm resolution. The product is developed by BaanVelgen in Rotterdam and manufactured in Taiwan to BaanVelgen specifications.

Compatibility check

This product is intended for the following application when equipped with factory AIRMATIC air suspension:

  • S-Class Coupé C217

Suspension specifications can vary by market, model year and optional equipment. Send BaanVelgen the VIN when confirmation is required before ordering.

Supplied components

The package contains the vehicle-specific adjustable links, all fitted stainless-steel socket ends, lock nuts, retaining clips and the relevant starting guidance. The listed price is for the complete vehicle set, not a single link.

Fitting the links

A professional or experienced installer can normally fit the set in about 60–90 minutes. Work on a level surface, follow the vehicle manufacturer’s air-suspension lifting procedure and avoid applying leverage to the original plastic sensor arms.

Do not use the sensor arms as levers when releasing the original sockets. After fitting, confirm that the links move freely through the normal suspension range and do not touch adjacent components.

Technical FAQ

Can the height be adjusted without removing the links?

Yes. Opposing left-hand and right-hand threads allow the centre adjuster to be rotated while both sockets remain connected to the vehicle.

Does the kit require coding?

No. The ride-height change is created mechanically and does not require software coding or an electronic lowering module.

Will the original suspension modes remain available?

Yes. The factory controls and selectable suspension modes remain available, although the vehicle operates around the newly selected static height.

Should the alignment be checked?

Yes. A wheel-alignment check is recommended after the vehicle has settled, particularly with a larger drop or non-standard wheels.

Can the original height be restored?

Yes. The links can be readjusted and the original factory links can also be reinstalled.
