Akrapovic Slip On exhaust BMW G87 M2

The Akrapovič Slip-On Line (Titanium) for the BMW M2 G87 is a lightweight, valve-controlled exhaust system developed to give BMW's S58-powered M2 a deeper and more engaging sound without compromising everyday usability. Manufactured entirely from high-grade titanium, the system reduces exhaust weight by 7.3 kg while delivering measurable gains in both power and torque.

For European road cars equipped with an OPF/GPF gasoline particulate filter, the Slip-On Line is available as an ECE type-approved configuration. No ECU remapping is required when the Slip-On is installed on its own.

Akrapovič Slip-On Line for the BMW M2 G87

The S-BM/T/34H replaces the factory rear exhaust section of the BMW M2 Coupé G87. Akrapovič constructs the system from high-grade titanium and uses two exhaust valves, one on either side of the muffler, together with two acoustic reflectors to control both gas flow and sound.

The valve housings and collectors are cast in Akrapovič's own titanium foundry. This allows complex, lightweight components to be integrated into the system while maintaining the construction quality for which Akrapovič is known.

During normal cruising, the exhaust produces a smooth and controlled tone. As engine load increases and the M2 is driven more dynamically, the valve system and acoustic reflectors allow the S58 straight-six to develop a deeper and sportier exhaust note.

Performance and weight reduction

Akrapovič tested the Slip-On Line against a BMW M2 G87 with the standard factory exhaust. The titanium system recorded measurable power and torque gains while substantially reducing the weight of the rear exhaust section.

ECE approved for the BMW M2 G87

The Akrapovič S-BM/T/34H Slip-On Line is ECE type approved for BMW M2 G87 models equipped with an Otto/gasoline particulate filter (OPF/GPF) when installed in the approved configuration.

The exhaust system can also physically fit compatible vehicles without an OPF/GPF, but the ECE type-approval certificate applies only to the approved OPF/GPF application.

This distinction is important when configuring the exhaust for European road use. Installing optional components such as an Akrapovič Evolution Link Pipe, downpipes or the Akrapovič Sound Kit changes the approved configuration and means the ECE type approval of the Slip-On Line is no longer valid.

How does the Akrapovič exhaust sound on the BMW M2?

The Akrapovič system is designed to change the character of the S58 rather than simply increase exhaust volume. Its dual valves and acoustic reflectors create different sound characteristics depending on engine speed, throttle input and driving conditions.

At normal cruising speeds, the exhaust remains refined and controlled. Under acceleration, the system develops a richer and more pronounced straight-six tone that gives the M2 considerably more presence than the factory rear exhaust.

The included Akrapovič control kit works together with the exhaust valves to provide the intended balance between everyday refinement and a sportier sound when the car is driven more enthusiastically.

Which Akrapovič tailpipes are available?

A compatible Akrapovič Tail Pipe Set (Carbon) is a mandatory part and must be ordered separately to complete the Slip-On Line.

Three compatible designs are available:

• TP-CT/68 – classic carbon-fibre tailpipe design
• TP-CT/69 – octagonal carbon-fibre tailpipe design
• TP-CT/73/CF – chopped carbon-fibre tailpipe design

The classic design retains a more traditional four-outlet appearance, while the distinctive octagonal design gives the rear of the G87 a more recognisable Akrapovič look. The chopped-carbon option offers an alternative carbon finish for customers looking for something different again.

Can the Akrapovič Evolution Link Pipe be added?

Yes. The Slip-On Line can be combined with an optional Akrapovič Evolution Link Pipe for customers who want a substantially more intense exhaust sound and additional performance.

The titanium Evolution Link Pipe replaces more of the factory centre section and takes the exhaust beyond the ECE-approved Slip-On configuration. Akrapovič specifies ECU remapping as mandatory with the titanium Evolution Link Pipe, and the system is intended for racetrack or closed-course use where stated by Akrapovič.

Does the Akrapovič Slip-On require an ECU tune?

No. ECU remapping is not required for the S-BM/T/34H Slip-On Line when installed as the standalone rear exhaust system.

This makes the Slip-On particularly suitable for a road-driven M2 where the objective is more sound, lower weight and an upgraded appearance without changing the engine software.

Does S-BM/T/34H fit the BMW M2 CS?

The S-BM/T/34H exhaust physically fits the BMW M2 CS G87, but its ECE type-approval certificate is not valid for the M2 CS.

Akrapovič has introduced a separate M2 CS-specific Slip-On Line with part number S-BM/T/39H. For an M2 CS, we therefore recommend ordering the dedicated CS application so the exhaust is supplied with the correct vehicle application and homologation.
