Where Should You Start?
The BMW M2 G87 responds well to upgrades because wheels, exhaust, intake and chassis changes can each alter a very different part of the driving experience. Start with what you actually want to improve rather than simply adding parts.

Choosing the Right BMW M2 G87 Upgrades
The BMW M2 G87 combines the compact proportions of the M2 with BMW's S58 twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine and a chassis that can work equally well as a daily-driven road car or a more focused performance platform.
That versatility is important when choosing upgrades. The best setup for a road-driven M2 is not necessarily the same as the right setup for a car used regularly on circuit. Wheels, exhaust, intake and suspension should therefore be selected around how the car is actually used.
At BaanVelgen, our main upgrade areas for the BMW M2 G87 are forged and motorsport wheels, Akrapovič and iPE exhaust systems, Eventuri carbon intake components, Öhlins and other suspension upgrades, and exterior carbon from manufacturers including 3DDesign and Vorsteiner.
Wheels for the BMW M2 G87
Wheel fitment on the G87 M2 should be considered as a complete combination of wheel width, offset, brake clearance, tire dimensions and suspension height. Choosing the correct fitment is more important than simply selecting the largest possible wheel.
For a motorsport-inspired BBS setup, the BBS RT88 is available in dedicated G87 M2 fitment. BBS specifies a 10.0 x 20 ET17 front wheel and an 11.0 x 20 ET14.75 rear wheel for the main application.
The BBS LM for BMW M2 G87 offers a more traditional two-piece forged route and can be configured in staggered 20-inch or 20/21-inch combinations.
For owners who prioritize lightweight road and track use, APEX forged wheels such as the APEX VS-5RS provide another strong BMW-specific option. Custom forged wheels from BC Forged and Brixton Forged provide additional freedom in sizing, offset, concavity and finish.
For more detail on the RT88 itself and the available BMW applications, see our BBS RT88 Applications & Fitment Guide.
BMW M2 G87 Exhaust Systems
Exhaust upgrades for the G87 range from road-focused rear exhaust systems to link pipes and downpipes for more extensive performance builds. The correct route depends on sound preference, OPF/GPF configuration, road approval requirements and whether engine software will remain standard.
For a premium road-focused setup, the Akrapovič Slip-On Line Titanium is one of our preferred options. Akrapovič specifies a 7.3 kg weight reduction compared with the standard rear exhaust, and the standalone Slip-On is available in an ECE type-approved configuration for applicable OPF/GPF-equipped European vehicles.
The system can later be extended with the Akrapovič Evolution Link Pipe for a more aggressive configuration. This changes the road-homologated setup and requires additional consideration of software and intended use.
Owners who prioritize a more dramatic valve-controlled sound character can consider the iPE Catback Exhaust. iPE also offers downpipe options for owners building a more extensive exhaust and tuning package.
Read our Akrapovič BMW M2 G87 Exhaust Guide for a detailed explanation of the Slip-On, Evolution Link Pipe, downpipes, ECE approval and the differences between the regular M2 and M2 CS applications.
Eventuri Intake Upgrades for the BMW M2 G87
The Eventuri Carbon Intake for BMW M2 G87 replaces the original intake path with carbon housings, high-flow Generation 2 filters, carbon ducts and vehicle-specific intake tubes.
Eventuri designed the system to reduce restriction in the airflow path to the S58 turbochargers while maintaining smooth airflow through the intake. The result is an upgrade aimed at improving turbo response and induction character rather than simply adding a visual carbon component to the engine bay.
Additional Eventuri components include front air scoops, the carbon strut brace and matching engine-bay carbon components.
Suspension & Handling
Suspension should be selected around the intended use of the M2. A road car may primarily need improved body control and a more purposeful stance, while frequent track use can justify a more adjustable chassis setup.
The Öhlins Road & Track suspension for BMW M2 G87 uses Öhlins DFV technology and is designed specifically around the dual-purpose road and track use that suits the G87 platform.
Before combining suspension changes with aftermarket wheels, the complete setup should be considered together. Ride height, wheel width, offset and tire sizing all influence available clearance and the final stance of the car.
Carbon & Aero Upgrades for the G87 M2
The angular bodywork of the G87 M2 makes exterior component choice particularly important. Our preference is to use parts that work with the original design rather than adding unrelated carbon elements around the car.
3DDesign offers a coordinated dry-carbon range including the front spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser. These components can be used individually or combined as a complete exterior package.
Vorsteiner provides a more aggressive alternative, including carbon front spoilers, rear diffusers, side skirts, a carbon boot lid and a full carbon hood.
